Giant Winter Squash

Roasted Giant WInter Squash.

Winter Squash cut half.

I went to the produce market on Veteran's Day and found this winter squash for $2. This squash is really huge and heavy. I roasted this squash. And a few pieces of it I cook with coconut milk and red hot chili padi. This winter squash or pumpkin is light in texture and not as delicious as the kabochi pumpkin.

Zue, that is one HUGE winter squash. How are you going to finish it? I guess you have to make muffins, cakes, bread etc with it :)

Gert, could last for 2 years. Yes, this labu should taste good in cake, muffin or bread. I think for pie is also nice.

Farina, I am glad you asked. Don't buy this giant squash or pumpkin if you want to cook lemak labu. But buy the kabocha squash. It is shape like a turban. Sometimes you get extra tombol at the top. The kabocha squash will taste good as lemak labu. The giant squash in this picture only good if I cook as sweet things like pengat, cake, muffin or pie.
